Training
Our training program keeps with the tradition of most reenacting groups, whilst adding more field training to the mix. No one expects you to devote your entire life to the study of the german soldier. Yet some effort should be made into attempting a portrayal of him. Most members complete their recruit training between their first and third event, The average new member completes their training at the third event.

One of the aspects that sets our training program apart from other reenactment units is the heavy emphasis on operating as a reconnaissance as well as an infantry unit.
During training you will learn the basic skills of a german soldier.
You will be taught:

  1. How to properly address fellow members
  2. How to fall in for formation/roll call
  3. Basic Marching
  4. The manual of arms
  5. Hand signals
  6. Combat formations
  7. Basic squad tactics
  8. The german name for all of your equipment and uniform
  9. How to set up a field camp or a bivouac
  10. How to build field fortifications
  11. Popular german phrases and combat chatter
  12. How to properly use all of your equipment as well as care for it
  13. How to operate and maneuver with your weapon.
  14. How to properly camouflage yourself and position
  15. The fundamentals of reconnaissance

Any event can be partially used as a training event. All new members can come to any event and be taught the basics. However the best way to prepare for training is to.
1. Assemble the items for your basic kit
2. Ensure that your uniform has all the necessary items.
3. Review our field manuals and read suggested articles.

At the end of training you will be looking and feeling  somewhat like a german soldier. However to fully earn the privilege of being a  reconnaissance man you must complete one last task.

To conclude your training, an elementary assessment will be given.
The best way to prepare is to memorize the following items beforehand:
  1. One german wartime song.
  2. The german names of all of your basic equipment
  3. A short history of the unit.
