Required Equipment
All equipment purchases must be evaluated by your assigned instructor. The unit has a strict equipment policy and a large selection of commercially available equipment is forbidden within the unit. The best advice is to not buy anything until you consult your instructor. Certain articles of clothing require obscure measurements that should be done by a tailor/ unit member. Parts of the uniform may require a custom measurement that should be done by an individual familiar with the sizing tables. The unit has sources for ALL of the equipment needed.
Uniform:
Field Cap- The required field cap is the m34 overseas cap with the gold/yellow soutasche.
Field Blouse- the required field blouse is the m40 design field blouse.
The field blouse must have the following:
Internal suspenders
X4 Belt hooks
M36 BEVO Breast Eagle
Aufkl. Field Grey Shoulder boards
Green Generic Litzen
Collar Bind
Field Shirt- The pocketless knit shirt is the only proper field shirt for wear underneath the field blouse.
Pants- The required pants are the m40 design pants, you must have period correct suspenders for the pants.
Leather EM Belt
Heer EM Belt Buckle-SIlver pebbled buckles are preferred.
Socks- either military issue or civilian wool socks are acceptable, unmarked wool hiking socks are perfect. Extra pairs of socks are encouraged.
Jack Boots- the tall black jackboots are required footwear, lowboots are only acceptable during work details in a non-combat environment. The jackboots require regular upkeep and insoles to be used. Members are encouraged to only wear jackboots.
Erkennungsmarke- a properly filled out unit dog tag, our unit provides this with membership.
Soldbuch- a properly filled out soldbuch, our unit provides this with membership.
Field Equipment
Helmet- the wartime field grey aluminum oxide finish helmet with a single Heer decal is the only acceptable helmet. The permitted helmet models are an m35 or an m40.
Y-Straps
Canteen-The canteen must be the .75 liter standard canteen with a metal canteen cup
Bread bag- M31 version
Mess kit- the mess kit must contain eating utensils either period or the issued type. Original or accurate reproductions are required. No late war (1942 or later) mess kits are to be used.
Bayonet- Wooden handle K98 bayonets only
Bayonet Frog- the mounted version with the strap is the correct frog for the unit designation.
Shovel- either a fixed or folding shovels are permitted.

Gas mask Cannister- An original gas mask cannister is preferred to a high end reproduction canister.The gas mask cannister should have the Verstärkungsschieber (5 loop leather reinforcement slides) on the cannister straps.

X6 Tornister Straps- They are extremely handy pieces of equipment to have, the normal soldier only received three but due to constraints it is advisable to have 6 as opposed to 3.

RG-34 Cleaning Kit- keep Ballistol wipes near your kit for emergencies.
Winter Uniform
Great Coat- M40 model only.
Gloves-period civilian or grey issued gloves
Toque
Scarf
Long Johns- period correct white long johns are acceptable
Winter insoles- for jackboots, alpaca wool works exceptionally well.
WEAPON
K98 rifle* (*if portraying a rifleman)
Depending on the role of the member and time period of an event different arms can be utilized.
Note:
In addition to all these items it is important to note that many of these items require upkeep, leather needs to be greased/oiled weapons need to be cleaned etc. These upkeep products and other expenses should also be considered when buying kit.
