INTRODUCTON
Our group aims to portray the second squadron of the 13th Panzer Aufklärungs Abteilung. Within this portrayal, all of our members as individuals, aim to portray unique fictional soldiers within this unit. This is all accomplished within the scope of WWII reenactment and has no ties to any political ideology. Our unit attends events located in the Mid Atlantic region of the US. Most of our members are close to the Washington D.C. region of the country. (Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania) A member does not need to be able to speak German to participate. Although many reenactors know basic German most conversations are carried out in English.
The mission of our group is dynamic, there are many interests and goals to be achieved. However the binding intention of the group is the portrayal of a military unit at war. Our aspirations as a group are dynamic as one of the main purposes of this group is to accommodate our members needs within the extent of WWII reenacting.
2./ Pz. Aufkl. Abt. 13
This unit specifically represents the second squadron(company) of the Panzer reconnaissance battalion of the 13th Panzer Division. Our main impression focuses around the circa 1944 era. Most of our training events take place during the circa 1940 era. Most WWII reenactments center around the late war time period, although we also focus our efforts at other key times during the war, for example the winter of 1941. Currently we are operating as dismounted scouts in a spähtrupp(reconnaissance Patrol).
Our unit is extremely new and very small at the moment. Our objective is to form a tight knit unit and possibly expand into armored reconnaissance in vehicles. We are not the largest group available and we would not want to be. We are looking to be a part of a less mainstream more immersive form of reenacting.
Why do people join?
WWII reenacting is a global club, people all over the world are involved and almost every side and time period of the war is covered by a club or organization. There is no one solid reason why tens of thousands of people are attracted to an obscure hobby. However the majority of reenactors have a strong interest in the history of WWII. A substantial amount of reenactors are interested in the friendship that a pseudo-military unit brings and the tactics and gear that it uses. Some reenactors even join because of a friend or close relative, word of mouth is one of the strongest recruitment tools.
How can I become involved?
Our unit is always anxious to assist motivated new recruits in joining and becoming a full member of our group. To learn more go to the “Recruitment” page or contact us at the “Contact” page.
Disclaimer
Our unit has no affiliation with any political groups regardless of their nature. Our group seeks to commemorate the german soldier as an individual and the german military as a military organization, not a political one. We make no attempt to glorify the loss of life caused by clashing ideologies, we only pay tribute to the individuals that endured the struggle of the time period. Any political party seeking to use us as a tool to move their agenda will not be tolerated.
We offer no support and condemn any neo-nazi ideology. NO politically radical person will be allowed to be a member of our group.
